JP BAR CATTLE RANCH

SHORTHORN PRODUCERS/BREEDERS

A true pioneer in the industry for the past three generations, JP- Cattle Ranch has actively chosen females and herd sires to grow not only our own program, but also support breeders from all over California.  Interested in adding some new genetics to your herd?  Come check out our latest calf crop and breeding plans for our next calving season.  Looking for a market steer to show at a local fair?  JP Bar calves year-round, making sure to produce male calves that can excel at different fairs in the area.

JP Bar Look Back at it

A bull bred by our own JP Bar Ranch, he was Supreme Shorthorn Bull at the 2016 State Fair and added some color back to our herd.

PVF Advantage

"Stripe" as we call him, is our newest heifer bull.  We are eagerly awaiting his first calf crop.

Dakota Gold

"Stripe" as we call him is our newest heifer bull.  We eagerly await his offspring crop.

Another clubby bull, Dakota Gold is sired by the famous Monopoly and out of a Yellow Jacket/Who made Who Dam.  This one is a prospect, but we hope to see some exciting offspring from him this year!

Bloodlines

JP- Ranch strives for show quality calves, but also breed for fully functioning, low maintenance cattle. Take a look at our best bloodlines.

The Plummer's

JP Bar Ranch was established in 1973 when John Plummer bought his first Shorthorn cow.  It has lasted through his son, Juston Plummer who showed cattle all through his youth.  JP Bar Ranch has grown by Juston's marriage to Gena and their 4 children (Juston J., Faith, Devonie & Danelle).  The ranch has grown to multiple locations, including the Herald Homestead Ranch.  The breeding program has grown immensely, and our hope is to see it continue into Plummer generations to come.
